A research study conducted by the mariedm Co., Ltd. Skin Research Center has been published in the international scientific journal Journal of Functional Foods (Impact Factor: 3.8).

The article, titled "Effects of Oral Supplementation with Eggshell Membrane (Ovoderm®-AS) on Skin Health: A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Trial,"

investigated the effects of oral supplementation with eggshell membrane powder (Ovoderm®-AS) on improving skin health.

The study was designed as a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate various skin health parameters, including skin wrinkles, elasticity, dermal density,

skin sagging, skin hydration, transepidermal water loss (TEWL), desquamation, skin roughness, and blood levels of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-2 and MMP-9).

A total of 100 women aged 25 to 60 years participated in the study and consumed either 600 mg/day of eggshell membrane (ESM) or a placebo for 12 weeks.

After 12 weeks of supplementation, the ESM group demonstrated statistically significant improvements (p < 0.05) in skin wrinkles, elasticity, dermal density, skin sagging, hydration,

TEWL, desquamation, and skin roughness compared with the placebo group. No adverse events related to the test product were reported throughout the study period.

These findings demonstrate that ESM is a safe and effective ingredient for improving skin health through oral supplementation.
